Couple Therapy
Long-term relationships are inevitably complex. We all bring our own unique set of qualities which will define the nature of any partnership. Many couples ask for help because pre-existing, often unseen, difficulties within the couple relationship have gradually emerged over time. They may manifest in the form of frequent arguments, thoughts of leaving the relationship or difficulties with intimacy. Such relationship problems may have been prompted by developments in our lives such as moving in together, having a child, or retirement.
Couple therapy can help us to better understand the dynamics between ourselves and our partner that underpin the problems we are experiencing. Developing an understanding of the factors that each partner brings to the relationship and how these interact can, over time, lead to a more compassionate and informed understanding of our own and our partner’s perspective, reducing conflict and deepening the relationship.
